Our #2680 Small Dent Rod and Ball Set is one of those everyday workhorse tools designed for use in practically any shop. Ideal for all trumpet, cornet, and trombone bell pipes, as well as a whole variety of other applications that call for small diameter rod and ball. Machined from non corrosive stainless steel, the set includes two rods and six dent ball heads with storage rack.

The larger of the two rods has an overall length of 30" (76.2cm) with a gradual taper going from a 0.625" (15.87mm) diameter down to 0.375" (9.52mm). The tapered end is threaded 1/4-28 to accept any of the six dent ball heads (or any dent ball with 1/4-28 threads).

The smaller rod has an overall length of 18" (45.7cm) with a diameter of 0.375" (9.52mm). One end is threaded 1/4-28 and the other end is 3/8-16.

The larger rod is ideal for working the entire length of trumpet and cornet bell pipes. The commonly dented area of the bell pipe between the mouthpiece receiver brace and the beginning of the downward bend of the crook has always been a particularly difficult area to work. Using the large rod with the smallest diameter ball head allows the technician to easily rake and push up dents throughout this area. The rod also works great on trombone bell pipes and other small bore instruments. The smaller rod is designed for a variety of repairs such as slide pipes in larger brass instruments, tuning slides, sax necks, etc.

 

The six dent ball heads are precison machined and polished from non-corrosive stainless steel and are designed with a 1/4-28 thread size. Diameters range from 0.437" up to 1.0" (25.4mm - 11.1mm). The smooth polished finish is perfect for raking up dents.
